Rooted in Alabama. Built for the Backcountry.

Alabama Backcountry Outfitters was born from a simple belief: the best moments in life happen outside. We are a team of hikers, campers, and weekend wanderers who know firsthand what it means to rely on your gear when it counts. From the shaded hollows of the Sipsey Wilderness to the ridgelines above Little River Canyon, this land shaped us, and it shapes everything we do.

We started this store because we were tired of generic outdoor retail that had no connection to where we actually live and explore. Alabama has wild places worth protecting and trails worth knowing. We wanted a store that reflected that, one built by people who use the gear, know the terrain, and care about the experience of every person who walks through our door.

Gear Morning Scene

Gear You Can Trust. People You Can Reach.

We carry products we believe in. Every item in our catalog has been selected because it performs, holds up, and earns its place in a pack or at a campsite. We do not stock shelves for the sake of volume. We stock them with intention.

When you have a question about fit, function, or what to bring on your first overnight, we are here. Not a chatbot, not a ticket queue. Real people who have been out there and want to help you get out there too. That kind of service is not a perk for us. It is the whole point.

We also believe outdoor gear should be accessible. Adventure does not require a massive budget or years of experience. It requires the right information and the right starting point. We want to be that starting point for every customer, whether it is their first tent or their tenth season on the trail.

We Are In This for the Long Haul

We are committed to being a store that grows with you. That means standing behind what we sell, making returns and exchanges straightforward, and continuously improving the experience of shopping with us. It also means being honest when something is not the right fit and pointing you toward what is.

The outdoors does not cut corners, and neither do we. We are grateful every day to be part of a community that values hard trails, honest effort, and the kind of quiet that only comes when you are deep in the woods with nowhere else to be.

Thank you for being here. Now go outside.
